“The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy” invites you to witness two powerful photographic series: the Pilbara Portraits and the Shaede Project. These works confront the deep gaps in opportunity and visibility that Aboriginal children and Blak + Queer identities face in our society today.
As you explore the exhibition, you’re invited to remove your shoes and stand barefoot in red desert sand—grounding yourself, literally and symbolically, in the experience of these communities.
On opening night, artist Shaede will be present in the same dress, ochre, and adornments seen in the images—becoming a living sculpture in a quiet, two-hour performance that reclaims the gaze and challenges the power of observation.
