A Morning of Fresh Produce, Local Stories & Sustainable Living at Carriageworks Winter Seasonal Market
On Saturday 14 June, the Carriageworks Winter Seasonal Market returned in full force, celebrating the richness of winter produce, the brilliance of local makers, and a growing movement toward conscious consumption. Ripple Narratives was proud to be there, capturing the vibrant community energy and storytelling moments that make this market such a staple of the Sydney food scene.
With over 60 stallholders, the space came alive with colour, aroma, and creativity. From citrus fruits and Jerusalem artichokes to artisan breads and small-batch cheeses, each stall offered a sensory snapshot of the season—and a direct connection to the farmers and producers behind it.
The morning’s live program deepened this connection, focusing on sustainability, food knowledge, and the everyday actions we can take to reduce waste.
At 10am, Louise Tran from OzHarvest led a session that hit home for many. With Australia aiming to halve food waste by 2030, Louise shared simple kitchen hacks that empower people to waste less and value their food more. It was a powerful reminder that big change often starts at home—with leftovers, storage habits, and a shift in mindset.
Next, at 10:30am, the team from Clove took the stage. Anna Guerrero and Alex Elliot-Howery, formerly of Cornersmith, delivered a warm and engaging cooking demo using produce straight from the market. Their recipes showed that seasonal cooking doesn’t need to be complicated to be delicious—and reinforced how conscious cooking can bring joy and ease into everyday meals.
From sunrise to close, the Winter Seasonal Market brought together growers, eaters, educators, and creatives in a shared celebration of food, story, and sustainability.
Ripple Narratives was honoured to document the day—through images that celebrate not just what we eat, but how it’s grown, shared, and respected.
