Winter Seasonal Market 2025: Capturing the Essence of Sydney's Seasonal Delights
On Saturday, 14 June 2025, Carriageworks Sydney hosted its annual Winter Seasonal Market, a celebration of the season's best produce and local craftsmanship. The market, held from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, brought together over 60 stallholders offering a diverse array of goods, including fresh citrus fruits, brassicas, Jerusalem artichokes, leafy greens, artisan baked goods, handmade preserves, cheeses, and sustainable meats.
The event featured a free live program hosted by SBS Food, focusing on seasonality and sustainability. Highlights included a cooking demonstration by Alex Elliot Howery, previously of Cornersmith and now Head of Food at Clove, who shared recipes utilizing the best seasonal winter produce from the market. Additionally, OzHarvest, Australia's leading food rescue organisation, provided practical tips for reducing food waste in the kitchen.
This documentary photography project captures the vibrant atmosphere of the market, showcasing the community's engagement with local produce and sustainable practices. Through these images, we aim to highlight the importance of supporting local farmers and artisans while promoting environmental consciousness.
