Jigalong: Stories from Martu Country

This ongoing photographic project is dedicated to documenting the essence of life in Jigalong. Through intimate portraits, environmental shots, and candid moments, the work aims to capture the strength, resilience, and cultural richness of the Martu community. The project highlights the deep connection the people have to their land, their culture, and each other.

Gallery:
The gallery features a curated selection of images that capture the everyday moments of children in Jigalong. From playful interactions to quiet moments, these candid and portrait photographs provide an intimate look into their lives. Through these images, we see the joy, resilience, and connection to Country that the next generation carries, reflecting the vibrant spirit and cultural continuity of the Martu community.

Jigalong Community:
Located on the western edge of the Little Sandy Desert, Jigalong is a remote Aboriginal community in Western Australia, home to the Martu people. Originally established as a maintenance depot for the Rabbit-Proof Fence in 1907, the community has evolved into a vibrant space where cultural heritage and contemporary life intersect.

Acknowledgments:
This project has been undertaken with the permission and support of the Martu people and the Jigalong community.
