March for Humanity: Documenting Sydney's Historic Protest for Gaza
On Sunday, 3 August 2025, Sydney witnessed one of its most significant demonstrations in recent history. Despite torrential rain, tens of thousands of individuals—families, activists, and notable public figures—gathered to participate in the "March for Humanity." Organized by the Palestine Action Group, the protest aimed to raise awareness about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to call for immediate international intervention.
The march commenced at Lang Park in Wynyard and proceeded across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, concluding at Bradfield Park in North Sydney. Participants carried symbolic items, such as pots and pans, to represent the dire food shortages in Gaza. Chants of "Free Palestine" and "End the Siege" echoed across the bridge, underscoring the collective demand for justice and peace.
This event was not only a demonstration but also a testament to the power of collective action and solidarity. The documentary photography captured during this march serves as a visual record of a pivotal moment in Sydney's history, highlighting the city's commitment to human rights and global justice.
